Police Reports 2.22.13

  • Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of Underhill Street around 2:30 a.m. Feb. 15 on a complaint of a fight. A male student opened the door, and the officers found a female student crying and lying on the ground of one of the bedrooms.  The female said words were exchanged over an ex-girlfriend and a physical fight ensued. She said the male would not let her leave and he pushed her into a wall, damaging it. She had a bite mark on her hand and scratches on her chest. The male had a small mark on his left hand. The male verified the story, but said both of them were pushing each other. He admitted to pushing her into the wall and hiding one of her shoes in a pillowcase.  Another male student, who called the police, heard the entire fight and heard the male say “I will not hit you anymore if you don’t call the police.” The male was arrested for domestic battery, unlawful restraint, disorderly conduct and damage to property.
  • The Peoria Police Department dispatched an officer at 2 a.m. Saturday to a 1400 block of Fredonia Ave. side alley where a male student was refusing to pay for a cab ride. When the officer arrived the male tried to run, but the officer detained him.  The driver said prior to the officer’s arrival, the male was belligerent, tried to set drink coasters on fire and tried to leave the cab without paying. The male paid his fare and was issued tickets for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was released without further incident.

  • Officers on patrol at 12:10 a.m. Sunday in the 500 block of Institute Place saw a male with an open can of beer on the sidewalk. When the male saw the officers he tried to hide it, and then ignored orders to stop by running up on a residence’s porch with another male friend. Both males were non-students, 17 and 18-years-old, and were given tickets for underage drinking. They were released to their parents. The males said there were other underage friends inside the residence. Officers checked the residence, and found a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male. They were released to their parents.  The officers then found more than 50 people under 21-years-old hiding in the basement and crawl space of the basement. They were all released after officers checked their safety. The two male student residents of the house were given tickets for presence on premises where minors possess or consume alcohol.  One of the males, a 21-year-old non-student, was extremely intoxicated and transported to OSF St. Francis. One female student was cited because she continually hid in the basement after everyone was released.
