- Around noon on Aug. 19, a university employee tripped over uneven concrete in the alleyway between University Hall and Williams Hall. She fell and hit her face on the concrete, resulting in a minor injury and bleeding from her nose. She was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center by ambulance.
- On Aug. 14, at least three students were caught stealing red chairs. The investigation continued on Aug. 20, after another officer discovered more chairs at a house affiliated with the original suspects. They reportedly claimed to not realize they were prohibited from taking the red chairs.
- On Aug. 20, a student reportedly fell victim to a phishing scam. She received an email from an unknown individual recruiting students to work as a part-time administrative assistant for $350 per week. The student reached out via text and was instructed to purchase Apple gift cards and office supplies from CVS and send pictures of the items to the number. Growing suspicious, the student asked if she was being scammed, to which the unknown individual responded that she was not. The student was “reimbursed” $1830.27, but she refused to deposit the check. After the unknown individual threatened to report the student for stolen funds, the student reported the scam to the BUPD. The amount of money that the student was scammed out of is unknown at this time.
- At 5:13 p.m. on Aug. 21, an individual driving a vehicle southbound on Elmwood Ave was stopped for driving on the wrong side of the road. The officer who pulled the individual over issued her a warning.
