  • At approximately midnight on Feb. 4, BUPD was dispatched to the St. James Apartment Complex after a report of an unknown male throwing trash into the dumpster on the property. Officers pulled over the student, who told officers that he lived in the complex last year and thought the dumpster was okay to use. BUPD gave him a warning and released him.

  • At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 4, BUPD was dispatched to the 900 block of N. Cooper St. a student called concerned about a friend drinking heavily. When officers arrived, they found the 22-year-old male in the house. He admitted to drinking, but was unsure how much alcohol he had consumed. An ambulance arrived, and when told that he needed to go to the hospital, he tried to fight the paramedics and push past officers. BUPD was eventually able to get him under control and assisted paramedics with getting him into the ambulance. The male was not injured.

  • A white Ford Explorer driving southbound on the 1200 block of N. University St. with its tail lights off was pulled over by BUPD on Feb. 5 at 8:30 p.m. in Campustown. When officers approached the vehicle, the driver accelerated and fled out of the north Campustown exit and proceeded east on Main Street. BUPD later found that the car was issued to a female unaffiliated with the university. When officers talked to her, she said that she sold the car to a male, who was also unaffiliated with the university. A message was sent out to find the person of interest to hold him for questioning.

  • A female student reported that $240 was stolen from her backpack on Feb. 9 in the BECC. The student told police that she had taken $400 out from an ATM on Feb. 5, and that when she was in the BECC studying for seven hours, she got up and came back to find that a majority of the money was stolen. BUPD found that where the student was sitting had surveillance cameras and after investigating the surveillance footage found that no one had come during that time to steal the money from her backpack. The student is not sure where else the theft could have occurred.
