Police Reports: February 16, 2024

  • Around 5:50 p.m. on Feb. 12, BUPD arrested a Bradley student at the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity house. The student’s significant other, also a Bradley student, reported the arrestee to police for repeatedly assaulting them during a fraternity party on the evening of Feb. 9. The student told officers that the arrestee aggressively grabbed their arm and yanked them away from conversations with their roommate multiple times during the party. The victim had a number of bruises on their forearm as a result of the arrestee’s actions. The victim told officers that the arrestee “has a problem with alcohol and was having a crisis during the party and admitted that [they were] not ready for a relationship.” The arrestee was charged with domestic battery and transported to the Peoria County Jail.
  • At 2 a.m. on Feb. 11, BUPD responded to the Delta Tau Delta fraternity house for an unresponsive Bradley student. When officers arrived, a student was performing chest compressions on another student that was laying unresponsive on the floor. An officer found that the unresponsive student had a weak pulse and was not breathing. The officer took over performing chest compressions. After a short time, the student gasped and started shaking, then began to breathe. The student was transported by ambulance to St. Francis Medical Center. Witnesses at the fraternity house told officers they only saw the student consume alcohol. BUPD is investigating the incident.
  • In the morning of Feb. 9, a Bradley employee’s personal vehicle was broken into. The vehicle, a Hyundai Sonata, was parked on the street in front of the employee’s Institute Place residence. The employee’s Ring camera failed to capture the break-in, but images from the camera narrowed down the time frame of the incident to between 12:15 and 7:13 a.m. The employee found the vehicle with a smashed rear passenger window and damage to the steering column. Officers wrote that the damage was consistent with an attempt to steal the vehicle. Total damage to the vehicle was estimated to be $310. BUPD passed the case along to the Peoria Police Department’s crime scene unit for further investigation. The individual responsible faces a charge of attempted vehicle theft.
