Police Reports: January 26, 2024

  • Between 6:08 and 6:23 p.m. on Jan. 18, two individuals of unknown Bradley affiliation stole a tire from a Bradley student’s Mercedes in the Main Street Commons parking lot. The individuals entered the parking lot in a Mercedes vehicle and parked behind the student’s unoccupied vehicle. They jacked up the student’s vehicle and removed a tire from its hub before driving off with it. Two days after the theft, investigation of CCTV and automatic license plate readers led a BUPD officer to an apartment complex on W. Romeo B. Garrett Avenue. The officer located the suspect vehicle parked near the apartment complex and observed a Mercedes-style tire in the back seat. The vehicle occupant was arrested and found to be in possession of a plastic baggie containing 15 grams of a fentanyl-methamphetamine mixture, a small amount of marijuana and an extended handgun magazine. The individual was charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and firearms charges relating to their possession of an extended magazine.
  • Around 10:15 p.m. on Jan. 5, an employee of Jimador Authentic Mexican Cuisine in Campustown called 911 when an individual refused to leave the restaurant after closing time. The non-Bradley-affiliated individual was sitting at the bar and allegedly told the employee that they would “leave when I get my last drink.” When law enforcement arrived, the individual told an officer that they would “kick [their] ass.” Officers arrested the individual and charged them with criminal trespass, aggravated assault and retail theft.
  • At 7:10 a.m. on Jan. 8, an employee of the Campustown Starbucks called police after a non-Bradley-affiliated individual began yelling outside of the store. The employee told officers that the individual was yelling that there was a bomb outside that would explode. When BUPD arrived, the individual told officers that they were having a conversation on their cell phone. The individual was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Police searched the building and surrounding area without finding any evidence of an explosive device.
