Police Reports: September 3, 2021

  • At approximately 4:10 p.m. on Aug. 31, officers responded to a call in the Swords Hall turnaround in which a student fell off their RipStik skateboard and dropped an instrument case, which was subsequently run over by a vehicle. The victim declined treatment and no injuries were reported. The instrument was not damaged. 

  • At 8:40 a.m. on Aug. 27, BUPD responded to a report of disorderly conduct outside of the Hillel House at 1500 W. Fredonia Ave. A female student reported being startled by an unknown male subject who was inside a dumpster in the alleyway. After both parties exchanged words, the suspect then threatened the victim with pepper spray. The victim then subsequently produced her own pepper spray, which prompted the suspect to flee eastbound and depart in their vehicle. The suspect was not located. 

  • A student was found lying on his back in the grass around 6 a.m. on Aug. 21 at the southwest corner of N. University Street and W. Bradley Avenue. He was passed out and snoring when officers arrived. After waking up, the student admitted to drinking three hard seltzers at a friend’s house, but could not remember the address. He also could not remember his own address. The of-age student was transported to UnityPoint Methodist Hospital by AMT.

  • There have been four occurrences of people being trapped in an elevator in the Student Apartment Complex. Facilities Management and the Peoria Fire Department were contacted during each instance. At 11 a.m. on Aug. 20, one student and two parents were trapped. On Aug. 21, there were two cases of people being trapped in the west elevator. The elevator was put out of service until it was repaired. Another instance occurred at 12:19 a.m. on Aug. 27.
