Athletics administrator leaves the Hilltop

For the second time in two and a half years, Bradley athletic department will be without an associate athletic director for external affairs.

Former Associate Athletics Director of External Affairs Heidi Wegmueller left the university last week to be account executive for Badger Sports Properties at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

“I have enjoyed working with the Bradley athletics team for nearly two and a half years,” Wegmueller said. “I am thankful for the opportunity to work at such a prestigious institution.”

Wegmueller worked on different projects including the creation of Kaboom! themascot and signing the first ever apparel deal with Adidas.

Director of Athletics Michael Cross said Wegmueller made a big difference through her leadership skills in her time at Bradley.

“She has left Bradley Athletics in a much better place than when she arrived and I thank her for all of her efforts,” Cross said.

Wegmueller said she has made several changes since taking the associate athletic director position, including revamping merchandise sales, introducing premium seating options at men’s basketball games and forming partnerships with national companies to further promote the Bradley brand across the country.

“I feel a lot has been accomplished throughout my time on the Hilltop,” Wegmueller said.

It has not been determined when a new external athletic director will be named.
