Braves still winless

Bradley’s volleyball team hit the road for a pair of Missouri Valley Conference matches last weekend. They did not end well.

Friday night, the Braves took on Missouri State and dropped the match 25-14, 25-11, 22-25, 25-12.

Freshman Jamie Livaudais led the team with 10 kills, six of which came in the third set.

“There’s been a good balance between consistency and changing things up [at practice],” senior Madison Kamp says. “It’s always nice to [try] something new and also have familiarity.”

Saturday night, Bradley found themselves going up against the Shockers, who were picked to win the league in the preseason. The Braves dropped the match in three sets to fall to 0-21 on the season.

Kamp tallied eight kills, one behind sophomore Kelsey Cave. After the game, Kamp said the team is trying different things and are also trying to keep things consistent.

Lea Sack’s 12 digs moved her closer to the top 30 in team history. She needs just 31 more digs to reach the milestone.

Although Maurer has previously said the team does not worry about milestones, the team needs to get through the season somehow. Kamp said that it has been the camaraderie with her teammates.

“Our strengths are team chemistry, work ethic and commitment,” Kamp says. “The fact that we have such good chemistry and relationships with each other is what’s keeping us going.”

The Braves return home this weekend for a pair of conference games, starting with a 7 p.m. contest tonight against Southern Illinois. The team then faces off against Evansville at 7 p.m. Nov. 1.
