Women’s golf ends fall with a win

The women’s golf team finished its fall campaign with a second place finish at the Spider Invitational in Richmond, Virginia.

The two day, three round tournament featured some of the best women’s golf teams in the country.

Sophomore Natalie Wisniewski said she was pleased with the team’s performance in its final tournament before the spring season.

“As a team, I feel we performed well,” she said. “We didn’t have our best scores of the season, but finishing second is definitely a pleasing result.”

The second round saw Bradley shoot a 301, which tied for its lowest output in a single round all season.

The Braves began the final day of play in second place trailing University of Pennsylvania by 15 strokes.

Bradley was not able to catch the Quakers in the final round but held on to second place behind senior Breanne Neufeld’s third place finish as an individual.

She shot 77 in the final round to finish five strokes behind the champion. Neufeld moved to third on Bradley’s all-time list of rounds shot in the 70’s with 58 for her career.

Junior Kelly Amundrud saved her best round for last, firing a four-over 76 to finish in seventh. Junior Erin Gorman and senior Caitlin Deeken each finished tied for 15th with a 238.

The Braves finished 30 shots behind the champion Quakers but 11 strokes ahead of third place Richmond.

With the fall season complete, the team is already looking ahead to the spring portion of the schedule that begins in February.

Wisniewski said the Braves want to be a team to be reckoned in the second half of the season.

“The fall season was only the beginning of a long, enduring year and I expect only better things to come in the spring,” she said. “Not only as an individual, but as a team, I feel we can only go forward and set high expectations for the spring, with winning conference being our number one goal.”
