Police Reports: February 7, 2025

  • On Feb. 1 at approximately 2:20 p.m., a student driving home near Laura Avenue and Rebecca Place pulled over at their partner’s house to check if their car was locked. While the student was seated in their own parked vehicle, an unidentified individual began running at her vehicle, shouting profanities. The individual allegedly threatened to kill her and made throat-slitting gestures. The victim was able to drive away without further incident.
  • On Jan. 30 at 2:20 p.m., BUPD was called for disorderly conduct when a student began yelling at a professor after said professor commented on students talking in class. Footage from two students, who were discreetly recording, revealed that the teacher stayed calm throughout the interaction while the student responded with increasing verbal aggression. The student insisted that nobody else was paying attention and that the teacher lost his “rabid mind.” The teacher attempted to outline the rules, to which the student responded by leaving the classroom.
  • On Jan. 28 at 9:55 p.m. near the Student Apartment Complex, an individual flagged down an officer to report a power line sparking. The officer confirmed the incident and called Ameren to temporarily close the line, causing the Student Apartment Complex to briefly lose power for 10 minutes at 9:52 p.m. The permanent repair took place at approximately 1:00 a.m., which caused the Student Apartment Complex to lose power once more for 15 minutes.
  • On Feb. 1 at approximately midnight, a student reported another student for vague and threatening messages in a group text. Before this, the two students were reportedly involved in a verbal argument that the threatened individual could not understand, reporting that the other student got up without saying anything and left in the middle of a group discussion. The officer advised the student to stop communication, but the threatened student had reportedly blocked her.
