The Bradley men’s golf team traveled to Kansas this week to participate in the Wildcat Invitational against a challenging field of competition.
The Braves placed ninth in the event hosted by Kansas State, shooting 42-over-par. Sophomore Carter Stevenson and junior Connor Hamm led the charge for Bradley, both finishing in the top 20. Stevenson tied for 13th place, shooting 4-over-par. Hamm tied for 17th after shooting 5-over-par.
Rounding out the team’s lineup were sophomore Brody McCarthy, freshman Tanner Leonard and junior Max Adams. McCarthy placed 44th overall, Leonard 60th and Adams 67th.
Stevenson’s best round of the tournament was a 2-under-par 70 in round two, with his best hole being the Par-4 thirteenth hole, which he birdied in all three rounds.
Hamm’s best round was a 1-under-par 71 in the first round of competition. He finished each round strong by shooting either a par or a birdie in holes 14-18.
McCarthy’s best round was his first, shooting an even-par 72. He was another strong finisher, as he either birdied or parred the final hole in each round.
Adams remained consistent with his scores, shooting 8-over-par in all three rounds of the event. His best hole was the Par-5 sixteenth hole, which he birdied twice.
Leonard made his first appearance as a Brave in this invitational, with his best score being a 3-over-par 75 in the second round. His best hole overall was the Par-3 fifth hole, which he birdied in rounds one and three.
The Braves will be in action again on Sept. 23-24 as they travel to Glen Oaks Country Club in Des Moines, IA, to play in the Zach Johnson Invitational.
The course will play host to the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in April, giving the Braves valuable experience and preparation for the course on which they will attempt to win a conference title.
