Sports Briefs

  • Sophomore soccer player Younes Dayekh announced he is transferring to Saint Mary’s College of California. He was the second leading point scorer this past season and was named MVC Freshman of the Year in 2017.
  • Junior Ellisha Davis of the women’s basketball team has left the program. She was the starting point guard at the beginning of the season. She fell out of rotation soon after and averaged 0.8 points, 0.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
  • Women’s basketball suffered two loses against Southern Illinois and Missouri State last weekend. They currently stand at 7-6 and fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference standings with five games remaining.
  • The track team ran in the Alex Wilson Invitational at Norte Dame where senior Haran Dunderdale placed second the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8 minutes and 14.84 seconds. The team will compete in the MVC Indoor Championships this weekend.
  • The tennis team split its weekend matches, falling to UIC and beating SIU-Edwardsville. The team is 6-2 and freshman Bozana Lojpur was named the MVC Singles Player of the Week.
