Bradley women’s golf was on fire in the fall.

The team started the season traveling through the waterfronts of Kewadin, Michigan, and took first place at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational. Then, the Braves ended the fall season defending the Hilltop at the Coyote Creek Classic, where they also took first place.

Since then, the season has been full of swings and misses.

“Golf is a frustrating sport in so many ways, but one of the most difficult components to grasp is delayed outcomes,” head coach Halley Morell said. “You can be working on aspects of your game for weeks and months and feel like they are getting better, but the results aren’t showing up yet. And then one day, it clicks and the results are there.”

Bradley’s underwhelming finishes are not due to a lack of effort, and Morell hopes their hard work translates to wins as the postseason approaches.

“I feel like that defines our spring right now,” Morell added. “We have been working very hard on our games and our mindset and making huge strides, the scores just have not reflected that yet. So we just need to keep plugging away, trusting our process, and hopefully the scores will show our hard work in the conference tournament this upcoming week.”

Sophomore Jillian Cosler led the way with a score of 229, which tied her for 45th place. Junior Allison Pacocha placed 56th with a score of 232.

Senior Maria Perakis’ second-round score of 74 was the lowest in a round by a Brave in the tournament. She finished tied for 65th place with a total score of 234. Sophomore Brooke Deebs finished just behind her, shooting a 235 and tying for 70th place.

Rounding out Bradley’s lineup was junior Caroline McConnell, who placed tied for 78th with a 239 score. Freshman Alyssa Mixon, who registered as an individual, tied for 62nd place, shooting a 233.

The Braves now turn their focus to postseason play, with the Missouri Valley Conference Championship set to take place Sunday through Tuesday at Annbriar Golf Course in Waterloo, Illinois.
