The Hilltop will be alive with the sound of music this upcoming week.
Musicians in Business (MIB) will present the Songwriter Sessions!, a concert series during the next week.
The first session will be at 7 p.m. April 1 in Constance Hall and features Jacob Colgan from Green Shoe Studio and Bradley students Cree Sullivan and Christian Lyon.
The other concert, the main songwriter event will feature Nashville-based singer/songwriter Jesse Lee who will perform and have a Q&A session at 6 p.m. April 4 in GCC 126.
Seniors and MIB president Lindsey Overby leads weekly meetings and provides interested students with opportunities to be involved in the music industry, including songwriting.
“I created this particular event, with the idea of bringing in a songwriter who had a powerful voice and tremendous songwriting ability,” Overby said. “I also wanted to feature some local song writers to gain different perspectives of songwriting at various levels.”
Students who attend will be able to listen to music as well as speak with the artists one-on-one.
Overby said previous MIB events and trips featured industry professionals set in a more professional manner.
“This session featuring Jesse Lee will give students a more interactive and musical experience in the music industry,” she said. “Jesse Lee has an amazing voice and a magnetic personality and is sure to entertain anyone who likes music.”
Overby said the event is a great opportunity for students to learn how all of their favorite songs are written.
“It is also a great way for students who are interested in writing to learn how to develop their own personal musical identity and helps them develop skills to compose well-crafted lyrics and music,” she said.
