With the first career fair of the semester coming up on Sept. 19, students will have the opportunity to seek out employment or internships.
This can be a nerve-wracking experience for some, given the significance and weight a well-written resume holds. The Smith Career Center (SCC) does its best to prepare students in a variety of ways.
The first event geared toward preparation was a Tell Your Story Through Your Resume program on Tuesday.
Attendees were given the chance to speak one-on-one with SCC Assistant Director Rachel Copeland, receive career advice and learn more about what employers are looking for.
Attendees received feedback and were given instructions on what to include in a successful resume.
“Preparing a [good] resume helps elevate nerves,” Copeland said. “It gives students a glimpse into what the working world will look like.”
The SCC is always looking to help students on campus in whatever way they can. They are an open line of communication for students when it comes to questions about workforce-related topics.
“[We] were designed to be there to help students from the beginning to when they become alumni,” Copeland said. “We’re happy to help; we do lots of work around preparing for future careers.”
Information on upcoming events or resources the SCC provides can be found on its webpage.
