Bradley Information Technology Students (BITS) began to wrap up the semester on a high note — not with a fizzle, but with a bang. Members of the organization met on Monday to enjoy free pizza and friendly competition at Trivia Night.
While BITS’s mission is to aid students in advancing their IT careers, Trivia Night asked them to think a little differently. Questions such as ‘Do you know who Emma Watson played in the “Harry Potter” movies?’ were used to put members’ pop culture knowledge to the test.
“With finals coming up and everything, we just wanted a way to relax and hang out,” BITS President Catherine Gould said. “Besides, who doesn’t love free food?”
This trivia-filled night marked one of the last in-person meetings of the year. Throughout the fall 2024 semester, BITS hosted a variety of successful events.
“BITS works to build up our IT students in professional development, but we also try to have fun and take some of the pressure off of students with events such as ice cream socials,” marketing chair Mark Ogden said.
As seniors, Ogden and most of the BITS executive board will soon be saying goodbye to the organization and Bradley as a whole. The only returning executive member next year will be Gould, a junior double majoring in business analytics and cybersecurity, who will be continuing her role as president.
“BITS means a lot to me. I’ve gotten to meet a lot of cool people,” Gould said. “It’s a way to collaborate and for me to get out of my comfort zone a little bit.”
As BITS prepares for these big transitions, it’s also moving forward with new opportunities. This week, members are embarking on a long-awaited tour of RLI Insurance in Peoria.
“We’ve been trying to get this trip together since COVID, so we’re really looking forward to it,” Gould said.
With almost another semester in the books, BITS looks ahead to an opportunity-filled future.
