Police Reports: April 18, 2025

  • On April 11 at 10:31 a.m., a BUPD officer spotted a male fitting the description of an individual previously reported for panhandling in multiple locations. A prior report detailed the man borrowing $105 from a student with a promise to return it, which had not been fulfilled. When approached by the officer, the man admitted to soliciting money from the student, claiming he still intended to return it. The officer informed him that he is banned from Bradley University.
  • On April 11 at 4:11 p.m., a suspect was reportedly seen in the Shea Soccer club house during practice and seemed to leave with something in his pockets. The individual matched the description of the person who had been banned from campus property earlier that day. Two students from the scene reported missing jewelry and believed the suspect had taken it, though they declined to press charges. BUPD officers attempted to locate the suspect at a home address obtained that morning, but only his sister was there at the time. When the officers informed her that her brother might have stolen some jewelry, she informed them that he was elderly and had dementia. BUPD continued to search for the suspect but was unable to locate him. The following day, the sister contacted BUPD and reported finding two chains. Officers recovered the jewelry and returned it to the students. The suspect is currently wanted for questioning.
  • On April 16 at 7:50 p.m., an access services coordinator at the Cullom-Davis Library observed an open can of beer on a desk alongside unattended belongings and notified BUPD. Responding officers were unable to locate the owner initially but identified him as a student of legal drinking age through a Bradley University-issued iPad amongst his belongings. The officers collected the student’s property and disposed of the alcohol. As they were exiting the library, they encountered the student outside. His belongings were returned, and he was advised not to bring alcohol into the library or any other campus facility.
  • On April 11 at 6:47 p.m., a student-athlete using the recovery room in the Renaissance Coliseum left their gym bag by the door, which contained a pair of shoes valued at approximately $800. The student later discovered the shoes were missing and reported them stolen. Security footage from outside of the room showed another individual briefly entering, then exiting with shoes in hand. BUPD consulted with the head track coach to help identify the suspect from the footage, who was subsequently confirmed to be another student-athlete on the team. The coach spoke to the suspect, who ultimately returned the shoes, claiming to have mistaken them for his own.
